Asha’s Refuge is a nonprofit organization that exists to help fill the gaps experienced by the most disadvantaged or vulnerable refugees who are working towards successful resettlement in the Memphis, TN area. Many refugees need more assistance than current services are able to provide. Asha’s Refuge offers help and encouragement for individuals who have refugee status that also have a disability, are uneducated, are single or a single parent of multiple children, are preschool children in need of Kindergarten readiness or are elderly, particularly widows and widowers.

A refugee is a person who has been displaced or forced to leave his or her home to seek refuge elsewhere due to persecution for reasons such as race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion.
